AI-Enabled Medical Coding Platform

AAPC India Pvt. Ltd. is the Indian technology arm of AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders), a leading organization in healthcare certification and medical coding education. I worked on AI-enabled medical coding tools, HIPAA-conscious healthcare workflows, semantic search, legacy modernization, and platform architecture to help coders find, validate, and act on complex medical content more accurately and efficiently.
Architected and implemented an AI semantic search system using a Python backend and Weaviate vector database, exposing REST APIs consumed by React/Next.js interfaces across multiple medical coding tools.
Integrated intelligent contextual lookup and AI-driven suggestions into medical coding workflows, helping users discover relevant procedures, references, and coding guidance faster.
Connected AI enhancements with scrubber and validation workflows, enabling coders to receive smarter suggestions and reduce documentation and coding errors.
Built an in-house UB-04 medical scrubber tool with high-accuracy validation, reducing dependency on unreliable external vendors and improving platform reliability.
Consolidated multiple E/M calculator tools into a unified experience, reducing redundant workflows and making Evaluation and Management coding decisions easier for users.
Led legacy PHP modernization and migration work toward newer PHP versions and modern frameworks including Laravel and CodeIgniter, improving maintainability, performance, and long-term platform stability.
Contributed to monolith-to-service architecture planning by designing REST API contracts, service boundaries, and C#/.NET backend patterns for internal and B2B integrations.
Integrated CMA Knowledgebase, Vignettes, and AMA APIs to enrich coder access to contextual medical reference data and improve confidence in decision-making workflows.
Implemented secure application practices for sensitive healthcare data, including authentication, access control, encryption-aware workflows, and HIPAA-conscious handling patterns.
